Today has been a nightmare..modern science/technology is having a very troubling day. First it started with my yahoo mail...tons of error messages saying "sorry, we're working on it"..tried for over an hour to send a message with photos attached..finally just sent a message and told them to visit here to see the photos. I then went to one of my yahoo groups and tried to post photos..again trouble..only 1 photo went through..the rest who knows where they ended up. Back to yahoo mail..got a message from a dear friend who visited here to see the new photos..oooops not posted yet...promised I'd post the photos right away. Came here and have tried for 45 minutes to post the photos..nothing working..grrrr! I even watched the help video..back to trying to post the photos..nope won't work.....I guess shock wave and the gremlins are having a tea party and I wasn't invited!!!!
So..let's see if I can sneak a photo in here..worth a try. First try,,didn't load it on this page..trying again.

More drama in trying to show more creations...why does posting photos have to be a nightmare? I spent the majority of today just trying to post photos..normally takes an hour at most. Today it was post a entry in my blog..then try agin..grrrr! So here we go again. The "Blue Faery-Self Portrait" sculpture is the other doll travelling to the Wiltwyck Quilters Guild-doll exhibit..she will be displayed, along with "Timeless", and they will also be for sale at the show. Both sculptures are cloth, hand sewn, and about 27" tall. It took about 3 months from the planning stages to completion...and the callous on my fingertips prove it was both enjoyable and hard work! I will try to create a new album in the photo gallery of this Blue Faery..but for now..my blog readers get to see her first.
Early stages...this shows how a sculpture looks without her finishing touches.
Although she had her "make up" on..adding the hair really brought her to life.
blue lace netting tights and fingerless gloves were added next.
over the tights..there is a petticoat, pantaloons, blouse and tabard.
add a floor length skirt, a vest, wings, tiara, cat mask, and her shopping bag full of her favorite things and her faithful cat ..and she became quite regal!

Well waiting until after 9 PM seemed like a good idea when several photos finally were posting in the "Timeless" album in the photo gallery..but then I wanted to add 1 more...a back view of her in all her finery. Well I guess I tested fate...the photo wouldn't post..here we go again! So here's "Timeless" a back view..enjoy!

Why is it such a nightmare to try to post photos! I had to rename the ones I wanted to post and it finally let me post the one of "Timeless" on the previous blog post..so I thought all is good..went back to post the photos in the album...nope...won't work....grrrrrrrrrrrrr! So I guess this post will be an update of the new photos..let's see how many I can post before I get a error message...my patience is shot!

:|Sometimes we have a plan to make improvements in our lives but then in a blink of an eye time has flown by and those plans just fell through. This was the case of being a better blogger and also to give more time to making this website better. Good intentions...but not achieved.
Well time is now to pull myself up and get busy! Forget looking back over past promises and goals..they are behind me..on to what I plan for the future.
2013 was a busy year for DibbleDabble1Dolls...most of the year was spent in taking a serious look at the sculptures and toddler dresses created and also stocking up on materials for the new line..Boudoir Dolls...commonly known as bed dolls and numerous other names as well. There is a long history about these dolls..the fantastic artists who brought them to "life" and why these dolls continue to remain popular. The early dolls were prized by the women of the "Roaring 20's"..carried to even formal events...imagine that! There were Flappers and Vamps..glamourous sirens..Southern Belles and characters popular in silent films as well. We have all seen photos of Betty Boop...what a vixen she was! The dolls were also dressed in finery fit for royalty...dreams that the doll owner envisioned of ways they themselves wished they could dress. We later can see how these dolls influenced modern dolls such as Barbie and other fashion dolls. We gave these dolls elaborate wardrobes, careers and even boyfriends!
To think of Boudoir Dolls as being a "new line" offered by DibbleDabble1Dolls really isn't accurate. There has always been the love of elaborate garments and each doll having its own personality..yet there was a feeling of something's missing..of not feeling I finally reached home. After sitting down with pen and paper..writing down what I love to make the most..there came a "lightbulb" moment..and then finally a name for the type of dolls I enjoy making the most...the dolls that let me be flambouant and free to express my love of fabrics and trims.
Yes it took a year of research to find out what was staring me in the face all along..a year of discovery..a year of shopping for vintage treasures..and a year to share my plans with many of my faithful buyers and friends. A year well spent. May you, my blog friends, also feel the excitement of this new adventure and visit my website often to see the new creations that will be, as always, available to be purchased via my website using paypal. The quality and attention to detail of DibbleDabble1Dolls is well known as is the fact that these creations are not produced by the hundreds in a factory...they are created one at a time..all differ due to their being hand sewn..and thus no two will ever be alike. A true tribute to owning a work of art.
This beauty is one example of a pattern purchased. There are several patterns that date from the 1930's and are in the public domain that will also be used...copyrights have expired so there is no infringement on use of the patterns.
I have also discounted many of my earlier created dolls which are offered for purchase here on this site. Truth be told..they were discounted so that they can be cleared out to make room for the new Boudoir Dolls...my home is very small and storage space is at premium...bursting at the seams. I will also consider serious offers for the early creations..with no returns...the storage space will be exceeded. The new creations will be larger than these early discounted dolls..range from 24" to 36" tall and thus will require the extra storage space.
Thanks for visiting DibbleDabble1Dolls...we welcome comments..your views are important to us.:)

I have promised in the past to be more active on my blog..and I see that promise didn't hold up too well. One year is way too long to have between posts..so here I try again to catch up.
The buyer of the Maestro ( album for him here so you can see how he was made)..has mentioned she may want an Opera Singer to keep the Maestro company so I have been busy researching costs and styles of materials that would compliment both the Maestro and the buyer's home. If this project does get approved I will create another album of the process it takes to make a life size cloth sculpture.
I won't be sitting idle while I wait to hear on the Opera Singer as I have decided to add another line to DibbleDabble1Dolls.....Boudoir Dolls...keep visiting my site for updates and photos. I have been stocking up and the wonderful materials I have purchased will be perfect for these dolls! As usual..vintage an antique items will be given a respectful new life and these dolls will keep a piece of history alive as well.

My last posts telling of my cramped over full studio and plans of a new studio are where I still stand....dreaming. Too many issues came up that deemed a studio a "non-essential" expense...I'm crushed! So I keep dreaming of the "someday" and wishing on stars..hey it doesn't hurt to try all avenues!
Working in a chaotic studio is difficult but not impossible. 2011 was another year of busy sewing with many projects/challenges and I loved every one of them too! I have hopes of a more financially productive 2012..this will make the IRS happy and will keep DibbleDabble1Dolls alive. Rules of the game state you have to show a profit over so many years or your business is no longer a business but will be considered a hobby. DibbleDabble1Dolls will never be "just a hobby"...there is a need in me to share my love of what I do..with the whole world...a hobby to me is just a carefree making of a few items and being satisfied with that...to spend a few minutes now and then to fiddle around. That can't be a description of DibbleDabble1Dolls...it is an everyday project in works...things I see, hear or read inspire me to create the next sculpture or a new twist on my Petite Couture.
So here's to 2012....more creations...more blog posts...more regular visits to this wonderful site..my own little world where I can be the "real" me.
One of the changes made to this site was the ending of the instant music you heard when you visited in the past. I had several comments to the "scared me out of my chair" effect the music had on visitors...it wasn't that the music was unpleasant...they found the tunes nice......but the fact the music seemed to jump out at them was the issue. One visitor told me how she had to quickly turn down the volume because she was at work when she took a peek to see what was new at DibbleDabble1Dolls...and web use was a "no no" at work...oops!
Will 2012 be a better year than those before it? Only time and lots of dreams will tell.;)

This is a rough sketch of what the inside of the new studio will look like. I realize there are flaws with dimensions..and of course..human error will be sure to prove that all the items that "should" fit in the new studio may need adjusting. Be prepared to see a posting of craft materials for sale..it may come to that!

Land is cleared...plans and estimates..got them.....the only hold ups are the funding and building permit and then the construction can begin!!!

Visitors to my site have seen the chaos I call my "studio".....a tiny room that is crammed floor to ceiling with all the goodies it takes to create DibbleDabble1Dolls products.
So many materials...so little space!l The lower left corner of the second photo shows a glimse of the fabrics. I am currently using 2 heavy duty steel shelving units..6'tall x 18"deep x total of 8'wide...all of it is fabric! There is more fabric in space bags placed about that couldn't fit on the shelving as well. This is how art is created...too much chaos! I need room to spread my wings!
